What are the Yanks thinking? Do they not understand that
Wall Street doesn't care if a stock market recovery means
there are no jobs for them. Americans seem to believe that
their largest leading companies will somehow help them achieve
individual greater employment riches. Well that may not
be the future, Mr Joe America.
What could happen, is that as corporate profits grow, Americans
may not find a job, but if you've got a few million in the
stock market you'll be fine. The market's want corporate
profits and if there not generated by American employees
or consumers, then why not some others? Like the inhabitants
of the next two superpowers, China and India.
Many of the companies listed in New York are worldwide entities
who have no allegiance to the normal workers of middle America.
They don't care where jobs go. Bush doesn't seem to care!
He's happy to ship them out. Put them some where else in
the world where the largest companies can act as ungoverned
corporate thugs. Countries where labour laws are, if present
at all, continually flouted and ignored.
The US financial stock market is recovering, but not along
with American jobs, only with the loss of decent jobs. But
I agree that the stock market is heading up and will provide
great wealth for the richest Americans.
The only thing the stock market is set up for are the companies
that participate in them. Markets can raise money for capital
investment, allow people to invest in the hope that corporate
profits rise and in turn, over time, push up the prices
of stocks so that they will be richer.
At no point does it say, Americans should build Cars or
Airplanes. Oh no my friend. That is why the stock market
will rise, with 'American' companies like Microsoft, Cisco
and GE using the cheapest workers wherever they may be in
the world.
The stock market will rise and Janet Jackson's nipples will
be the least of your worries. So invest in your stock market
buddy, but don't expect to be working when your watching
the Superbowl in 10 years time on your Korean TV, drinking
Tsing Tao beer and watching some aged pop star with her
tits hanging out. And that's after adverts for the latest
Utility Cruiser, designed in Beijing, built near Shanghai,
and coming to a showroom near you!
