So whats are some pitfalls you should be aware of when
considering expat health insurance?
Firstly work out if you actually need it, or can you turn
up at the local hospital and expect great service. Well,
this often depends often on reciprocal rights for different
countries and nationalities.
Obviously you have the private options and there are a
host of companies who provide cover in different areas.
Some of the main points to check is
- do you have yearly check ups
- do you have access to Accident and Emergency
- what hospitals can you use
- are you provided with Maternity Cover, or is that extra
- is dental care included
- are you covered in other countries as well
So theres lot's of different variations. Also, be sure
to state any medical conditions you know about or you could
end up receiving healthcare which will not be covered when
it really matters.
